More Details Emerge About Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

As ridiculous as the name sounds, this is actually shaping up to look like a pretty good RPG. Some more details have emerged due to an interview with Square Enix’s Tomoya Asano. First and foremost, the girl that we’ve seen in many images (as well as the artwork above) is just one of the main characters, of which there are four.

The battle system returns to a familiar staple that people tend to relate to Final Fantasy games – the job system. More specifically, think Final Fantasy V. Also, the battles will be turn-based. This inspires me because too many times developers tend to go overboard with trying to create some wacky new battle system and it tends to not work more often than not. Seeing this title stick to a fairly stable system of turn-based battles and random encounters is encouraging. Now all we have to see is if it’s done right.

Finally, the game’s scenario and sound staff are apparently people who have not worked with Square Enix before. This could, in itself, breathe new life into a genre that needs the support at the moment. Hit the break to check out some screens from Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.
