More Hendrix Songs Coming to Rock Band Store

Get ready to dive back into that “Purple Haze” because the Rock Band Music Store is gearing up for another round of Jimi Hendrix DLC. “Haze” and “Little Wing,” two songs that are already available by the legendary guitarist, will have Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades available Dec. 20. Seven new tracks, dubbed the Experience Hendrix Pack 01, will also be available the same day for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners.

European gamers will have to wait one more day for access to the DLC, which includes three songs from The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s Electric Ladyland — “Long Hot Summer Night,” “Gypsy Eyes” and “All Along the Watchtower” — and “Dolly Dagger,” “Freedom” and “Angel” from First Rays of the New Rising Sun.

There’s also a live performance of “Voodoo Child (Sweet Return)” that was recorded at Woodstock featured in the track pack. Download all seven songs together and it’ll run you 880 Microsoft Points, or about $11 in normal-people money. Otherwise, it’s the standard $2 or 160 points per song. “Long Hot Summer Night” will offer keyboard support and “All Along the Watchtower” will be eligible for a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade for 99 cents; “Freedom” offers both features.

It’s interesting to see Rock Band stick to its DLC-focused strategy while Activision … well, you know what they did to Guitar Hero, so I don’t think we need to venture further into that little aside. I think this pretty much sums up the difference between the two franchises.
