Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 2: Black Dynamite’s Revenge

The second episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is out, and is it as kickass as the premiere? Well, in some ways yes, and in some ways no. Hit the jump for the episode, and my thoughts.

So we get the conclusion of the fight at the cyborg factory, with Sonya actually kicking ass, and Jax pulling a Punisher: War Zone and punching Kano’s face so hard he makes half of it asplode.  Then you have some explosion that causes Jax to possibly-maybe-okay-yeah lose the use of his arms, and it ends on Kano in some seedy underground hospital/engineering bay getting one of those cybernetic eyes drilled into his skull.

And that’s pretty much it. This episode really felt like everything was slow to develop, and yet much time didn’t pass at all. There’s a considerably long recap of last week’s episode at the beginning, and a ridiculous end credits that’s even longer, so all in all there’s only about five minutes of real meat here, and even then, I found myself looking at the clock periodically, wondering if anything else was going to happen.

Most importantly, where’s the crotch demolishing? It’s still nowhere to be found. Hopefully, next week fares better, because I have other things to do that are actually worth nine minutes of my time.

His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks.
