Today, Game Director at Evolution Studios Matt Southern announced MotorStorm Apocalypse for the PlayStation 3 and let loose a vast array of details on the new title which has been in development for the past two years. An all-new take on MotorStorm by many accounts, Apocalypse takes place in a city that is under destruction from disastrous events such as "Buggies using collapsing walls as half-pipes. Big rigs on the rooftops of skyscrapers as they collapse. Superbikes gunning into the basements of enormous rifts." and more!

The game also brings a ton of new features to the MotorStorm universe like persistent party matchmaking system, cut-scenes (possibly story-driven?), vehicle perks and enhancements earned through a full-fledged online ranking system, game mode creation tools, and the highly regarded split-screen online! That's right; I just said split-screen online. In MotorStorm Apocalypse gamers will be able to automatically hop on sixteen player online multiplayer matches with three friends against 12 online gamers, that mean crew of 4 out of the 16 in the room are on your TV! This will give way to a whole new realm of team-play in MotorStorm and players will need it!

As the world is subject to natural disasters and ripping itself apart, the paths that each racer takes will have to be decided very quickly. Given that MotorStorm has always presented gamers with the ultimate challenge of finding the best path for your vehicle of preference, this should complicate things a great deal and give way to an exciting and fresh look at the experience. There are even new vehicle classes to be announced soon.

Mr. Southern concluded his announcement on the details of MotorStorm Apocalypse by adding, "We’ve got a lot more to reveal too. The end of the world…is just the beginning."
