Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei Hooking Up, Awesomeness Should Ensue

Two of the biggest Japanese game developers are joining forces to bring gamers…something. They’ve launched a teaser site which currently shows nothing except a countdown. Knowing that the site exists, gamers have no choice but to wonder and assume what this collaboration will mean. With the outstanding performance of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and the general comeback of the fighting genre, this could definitely mean another crossover fighter, though it’s unlikely. The only Tecmo Koei fighting series I know of is Dead or Alive, and it isn’t very similar to Tekken at all and I can’t imagine how that would work…unless of course they pulled a Tekken X DOA and also a DOA X Tekken.

The most successful games for either of these developers are seemingly action games: Tekken, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Soul Calibur, etc. Or, and I think this is a bit less likely, the two developers could be creating an entirely new game together that isn’t some kind of crossover. Hard to imagine though, right? No amount of speculating will change what this game actually is, and I for one am extremely excited at this prospect. Here’s to hoping the reveal is at least worth a week of hype, because that’s how long it’ll be before we know what it is.
