As many gamers this past week have been jumping into the dark, twisted world of From Software's latest creation Bloodborne on PS4, others next month will be able to hop into the world of Dark Souls II, whether it's again or for the first time, with the game's upcoming re-release, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

In a post on the publisher's Tumblr page, Bandai Namco revealed a slew of new information about Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, specifically giving details on the release plan for Scholar of the First Sin, pricing, and the system specifications for the PC version.

Bandai Namco detailed that Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will release on April 1st, 2015 coming to PC through Steam first, followed by release on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on April 7th, 2015. Pricing-wise, the game will retail for $59.99 on PS4 and Xbox One, while the PC pricing structure is slightly more complicated.

More specifically, Bandai Namco detailed four different prices for the PC version of the game that will depend heavily on your computer's support of DirectX, as two versions of the game will be released featuring support for either DirectX 9 or DirectX 11.

Each version will have its own separate Steam store listing, and pricing for the PC version will depend on either your preferred DirectX version and which DLC you have owned if upgrading from the previous PC release of Dark Souls II. The tiered pricing structure for the game's release on Steam will be:

  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX9): $39.99
  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX11): $49.99
  • DirectX11 Upgrade price for existing owners of Dark Souls II on Steam: $29.99
  • DirectX11 Upgrade price for existing owners of Dark Souls II and all DLC on Steam: $19.99

So in breaking it down, the game will either be $39.99 or $49.99 if buying it for the first time (DirectX 9 or DirectX 11), or it will be $29.99/$19.99 if you are upgrading the game from the previous Steam release, and if you purchased the game's previous DLC.
