Naughty Dog has some great IPs like The Last of Us, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted. But how many games will they bring to this generation of consoles?
We recently knew that Naughty Dog aren’t planning on making a Jak and Daxter game soon. Community Strategist Arne Meyer explained that developers don’t really know when the cycles are about to end, because they “usually find out about the new hardware once they’re actually ready to give us development kits even if they’re early.”
He continued to say that they have “at least one, maybe two games left in the console generation, maybe more,” who knows really? He also referred to The Last of Us, since it was released late in the last console generation, and was a major success.
“I would hope so. I would hope we would release a game pretty soon. Yeah, our development cycles aren’t too long so and I have no idea how long this console generation really is going to last, but, yeah, there’s no doubt it should be in this console generation for sure.”
“I’m sure there’s some big master plan somewhere, in terms of what the cycles are. We usually find out about the new hardware once they’re actually ready to give us development kits even if they’re early. We don’t know ahead of time when that cycle ends, we just have to focus on making the best game we can on the hardware we do have.”
“I mean I have no doubt – I don’t know what the timelines are – but we have at least one, maybe two games left in the console generation, maybe more. Clearly we can release a game really late in a console generation and do well, right?”
