Naughty Dog Lead Character Artist’s Fantastic Talent Showcased in New Pictures

on October 18, 2014 5:30 PM

If you follow our site, you probably already heard of Frank Tzeng, one of Naughty Dog’s incredibly talented Lead Character Artists. A few months ago we showcased some of his work, and he’s behind the fantastic Nathan Drake character model we saw a couple weeks back.

Yet, he’s creating more, giving us just another example of the talent behind games like The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Above you can see a render of mixed martial artist Anderson Silva made using 3D Max, Maya, Zbrush and Keyshot. He looks impressive, even if Tzeng seems to think he can improve further.

Finally finished this piece, i am not too happy about the likesness, but i think its good enough to be a anatomy study piece, it was fun!! Now, move on to another!! Keep working hard!!

Below you can also check out two work-in-progress shots of the same piece.

Tzeng also posted two work-in-progress shots of a cyberpunk lady he created for a personal collection of short stories titled Showtime by Concept Designer Maciej Kuciara, who also worked on The Last of Us.

If you want to see more of Frank Tzeng’s art, you can check out his personal portfolio site and Artstation page, and remember that the artwork showcased here does not represent Naughty Dog’s upcoming title. They aren’t going to do a new UFC game.

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
