During a comment-fueled interview on IGN, Volition revealed some new information about Agents of Mayhem.

First off, they announced that the game has a completely original score that is being composed by Malcolm Kirby Jr. and Chris Velasco.

Agents of Mayhem has a completely original score by Malcom Kirby Jr (Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV,) and Cris Velasco (Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, and most recently Overwatch). Malcom is working on the in-game score, while Cris is developing the musical themes for factions and characters.”

Vehicles were also confirmed to be in Agents of Mayhem, with Volition humorously describing where the player could drive.

“There will be a selection of souped-up Agency vehicles to choose from, or you can simply snag any of the npc vehicles in the open world if you prefer. The city of Seoul is your playground to drive around however you want… on the streets, sidewalks, in the fountains, or wherever else you want to explore.”

TC Carson and Jasika Nicole have voice acting roles in the game as Hardtack and Persephone respectively, along with returning talent from Volition’s previous games.

“We have an incredibly talented new voice cast like TC Carson as Hardtack (Kratos from God of War) and Jasika Nicole as Persephone (Fringe) but there will also be some returning talent that our long-time fans will definitely recognize.”

The reasoning behind the name Agents of Mayhem was also revealed, having been the game’s name since it started development.

“It was always called Agents of Mayhem, even at the initial pitch meeting. One of the phrases we’ve had around the studio to describe our fans is ‘Our players are agents of mayhem, with lots of toys.’ It’s a name and phrase that we’ve always loved, and it just clicked as a title for a new IP. This turned into one of those situations where the internal codename for the game ended up turning into the final name of the game.”

Volition also mentioned some of the game’s major inspirations from outside the gaming-sphere.

“Some of our major inspirations came from outside of gaming like GI Joe, Saturday Morning Cartoons, and comics/movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers. We wanted to create a game that was true to these experiences from other entertainment mediums.”

Agents of Mayhem is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime in 2017.
