Ed Boon has confirmed on Twitter today that a new character will be revealed for Mortal Kombat X on Thursday, January 29th during NetherRealm Studios’ Twitch stream.
While revealing that just one new character is coming is enough to get fans excited, Boon has continued to tease fans and has hinted that the studio will actually be announcing two characters. Boon asked a Magic 8 Ball if two characters were coming, posting a picture of one of the fortune-telling toys saying “as I see it yes.”
Who these two new fighters may be, whether they are original creations or returning favorites, no one knows for certain. With only 11 confirmed characters in Mortal Kombat X, seeing two new fighters would begin to round out the roster before it’s April launch. Mortal Kombat 9 had 27 playable characters at launch, with the PS3 version having 28 characters because of the platform exclusive combatant Kratos from God of War.
Mortal Kombat X is set to launch for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on April 14th, 2015.
