External Producer Melanie Faulknor--a veteran of Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Star Wars: The Old Republic as an Assistant Localization Project Manager--has just revealed on the BioWare Blog the following details:

  • Mass Effect 3 is being developed with Straight Right, an Australian studio that is familiar with Nintendo's technology.
  • It will be playable completely on the Wii U's Game Pad, freeing up the TV.
  • The Wii U version, called the Special Edition, include several DLC packs for both the single and multiplayer: From Ashes, the Extended Cut, the Rebellion, Resurgence and Earth multiplayer packs, and a bonus heavy weapon.
  • It will include an updated version of Genesis, which PS3 players may remember as the interactive comic book that allowed gamers to make important decisions from earlier in the Mass Effect storyline in lieu of the lack of a save file. What moments will be chosen for Mass Effect 2's story is unclear at this moment.

Wii U's Mass Effect 3: Special Edition is due with the console launch this month on Novenmber 18th in the US, and November 30th in Europe.
