New EVE Online Senior Producer Promises War, Sends Balloons Into Space.

Jon Lander (CCP Unifex) has been appointed as the new Senior Producer of EVE Online (if you don’t know the game, you can read my recent re-review here) and he immediately started laying down the plans for his mandate.

The first theme for releases and expansions of the game in 2012 will be “War”, even if not much has been shared about what that war will actually entail.

Looks like CCP is also beginning it’s own exploration of real space (or better, near-space). During the upcoming Fanfest an high altitude balloon containing all the names of every EVE Online subscriber active on December 31st, 2011 will be launched and set to reach altitudes exceeding 100,000 feet, with a camera recording the voyage.

A little cheesy maybe, but cute none the less.
