Multiple sources have confirmed that Batman: Arkham Origins will contain a New Game+ mode identical to that of its predecessor, 2011’s Batman: Arkham City. 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum contained no such mode. For those unfamiliar, New Game+ allows players to start the game over after they have completed it the first time, while also allowing them to retain all powers and upgrades that were unlocked during their first playthrough.
Creative Director on the project, Eric Holmes, also confirmed that Warner Bros. Montreal has already begun to develop downloadable content for the game. However, he did not get into specifics as to the nature of the content – whether it would be single or multi-player based, or whether it will simply be costumes. DLC for previous Arkham games was comprised mostly of costumes, challenge maps, and characters for challenge maps. Arkham Origins already extra costumes and Deathstroke as a challenge map character confirmed as DLC.
Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC on October 25th, 2013. A Vita/3DS version of the game, Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate, is also in development by Armature Studio and will be released on the same day.
