Epic Games has announced the newest DLC pack for Gears of War 3, entitled “Forces of Nature.” The primary focus of the Nature pack is the introduction of three new maps — Artillery, Cove, and Aftermath — each set either in the midst or the wake of natural disasters. A blizzard and a tsunami have been mentioned, but the third disaster remains a mystery.
The Forces of Nature pack also re-introduces two maps from the previous GOW titles — Jacinto and Raven Down — as well as bringing back GOW 2’s Guardian Mode, in which each team must protect its designated leader or lose the ability to respawn.
As if all of this were not enough, the DLC pack introduces special weapons called “Elemental Cleavers” to Horde and Beast Modes. Each cleaver deals damage uniquely, such as the immulsion cleaver’s ability to explode upon impact. Epic games tops all of that off with four new characters and seven weapon skins, to add a little spice to this already robust DLC gumbo.
The Forces of Nature pack hits XBox Live March 27th, and will be available for 800 Microsoft Points (or ten bucks if you prefer the vernacular), but will be awarded free to those proud owners of a GOW 3 Season Pass — though if you don’t have one already don’t rush out to get it, as this DLC pack will be the last to come free with the pass.
