Sony Computer Entertainment and Guerrilla Games just released the 10th anniversary pack for Killzone: Shadow Fall, but there’s more coming, as mentioned during the recent anniversary livestream by Lead Designer Eric Boltjes.
Boltjes explained that there’s another patch coming soon that is going to add “a whole new dimension to the game.”
With the new patch all experience points earned will turn into a currency called “valor.” Every time you play, every action you do will generate this currency adn will let you buy “mystery boxes.” Those boxes include content that you normally get through challenge unlocks and other means.
Daily challenges will also be added. Every day you log in you’ll get a new challenge. It will be a simple task like “kill 30 enemies” or “win five missions,” and those will also provide valor. Another new element will be daily login bonuses, and bonuses for playing multiple games in a row.
The idea behind the patch is that there’s so much content in the game that the developer wanted to create a system which would allow more people to enjoy it without having to grind hundreds of hours.
Boltjes mentioned that the patch is going to be released “very soon” even if he could not commit to a release date just yet.
