When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. When Masaya Games announced that it would show off a new game, I thought Langrisser wasn't a possibility, since the rights for the series have been within Atlus' portfolio for the longest time.

As a fan of the saga, though, I'm very happy to learn that I was wrong. While a new Cho Aniki would have been spiffy, a new Langrisser is monumental news for me, and that's exactly what was announced on this week's issue of Famitsu.

The new game will feature 10 vs 10 combat with the dear old mechanic that sees cavalry, archers and infantry governed by rock-paper-scissors rules. Development is currently 50% complete, and we'll see a Japanese release exclusively for 3DS this summer.

Below you can see the Famitsu article, showing a few pictures and illustration featuring the character design by Cho Soku Henkei Gyrozetter chara designer Hiroshi Kaieda. Unfortunately the original Character Designer of the series won't return in the new game.
