If you ask me why I purchased a Wii recently, one of the answers I would give you is simply, “Metroid: Other M“. To be honest, I haven’t been a huge fan of the Metroid series in the modern generations, but I absolutely loved the original platformer games. Metroid: Other M seems to return, at least somewhat, to those roots with some 2.5D action at times, while at other times switching things up and going into first-person mode and just about everything in between. I’m not exactly sure how I feel about the possibility of being forced to use the Wii-mote for control, considering the trailer shows the shifts you have to make between using it as a “standard” controller and using it as a pointing device for first-person combat. Let’s hope they allow you to use a classic controller as well. Only time will tell. In the mean time, hit the jump to check out the trailer. Your jaw may never recover from its trip to the floor.
