Nintendo Japan released patch notes for the 3DS system update version 9.3.0-21U, which includes plenty of new features as well as improvements to stability and usability (thanks to NeoGAF user L~A for the translation).

Changes to the HOME Menu for North America, Europe and Japan:

  • A Shuffle Favorites feature has been added under Change Theme in HOME Menu Settings. Users can choose multiple themes and have their theme change when the system is left in Sleep Mode from the HOME Menu or turned on after being off
Available software updates can now be downloaded from the HOME Menu
Users can now capture screenshots with both the upper and lower screens included
  • Improvements to system stability and usability:
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

There are a few Japan-exclusive updates, such as being able to use SUICA cards and the like to add funds on the Nintendo eShop account for the New 3DS. There’s also an Amiibo setting in the HOME Menu for New 3DS, similar to the Wii U.

In reference to the stability update, I wonder if it will be targeting certain emulators and ROM hacks such as Ninjahax and Gateway. This is pure speculation, however, as nothing was particularly detailed on that front.
