The Nintendo Direct for today showed off some nice gameplay footage for Pokémon Rumble U, the upcoming Wii U digital download sequel to the 2012 3DS game Pokémon Rumble Blast. Pokémon Rumble U will be released for North America on August 29th and for Europe on August 15th.

According to the trailer you can battle and collect up to 649 Pokemon toys by fighting and befriending them. Just like in any other Pokemon game, each Pokemon has unique strengths and weaknesses so strategy is important when choosing what Pokemon to use. The game has a massive 70 stages and hundreds of moves to master. It also supports up to four player co-op, which sounds pretty interesting.

As a little bonus, you can scan NFC Figures using the Wii U's GamePad. All 18 figures will be available for purchase exclusively at Gamespot.
