Here's some satisfyingly gruesome new screens of Namco Bandai's upcoming reboot of retro arcade gore-em-up Splatterhouse.  As they were in the original, the kills in this one look to be just as monumentally violent, and tickles my dismemberment fancy just as well.  It also looks like you'll be able to wear alternate masks in the game, although whether or not they're only cosmetic changes remains to be seen.

The story is a little similar: you're still Rick Taylor, college student, and you're on a journey to rescue your missing/kidnapped girlfriend, Jennifer, who has disappeared after entering a dilapidated mansion owned by a reclusive, mysterious Dr. West.  In order to get past Dr. West's uncomfortably passionate horror movie fetish, Rick dons what's now called the "Mayan Terror Mask" to get all beefcaked out and save his girlfriend.

I have to say, even though this game looks like your standard modern day action game, I'm still looking forward to it.  They do just enough things to make it a little different from the rest of the pack, and I'm really banking on the fact that the story might actually be decent too.  If they keep the ending and final boss of the original, and actually add some sort of context to it all, this might be a very special game.  Splatterhouse drops at the end of this month on November 23 for the PS3 and XBOX 360.
