New Super Mario Maker Patch Removes Nine-Day Requirement to Unlock All Stage Tools

on September 10, 2015 8:00 PM

Super Mario Maker will be making its debut tomorrow and has already gotten a patch, Patch 1.0.1, in preparation. Within the patch notes, however, are some interesting details:

  • “Create a course” scene: a small element was added.
  • Condition(s) for increasing the amount of useable parts (in the level editor) were added.
  • Various changes meant to improve the gameplay experience.

According to the notes, Nintendo has increased the amount of tools available for the level editor. Several users from NeoGAF have also reported only a 15-minute period between tool “shipments,” although an official timeframe has not been confirmed as of yet.

Previously, the title used a nine-day system to slowly unlock tools after players played the game for at least five minutes per day, in order to gradually introduce tools and avoid new players from feeling too overwhelmed by the options.
