Telltale Games announced today that studio co-founder and president Kevin Bruner will be taking over as CEO of the company while former CEO Dan Connors moves to an executive advisor role. In the move to his new role, Kevin Bruner confirmed that the studio is working on an original IP.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz and explaining the change the company is making, Bruner made the following comment:

We’re thrilled to continue our growth and bring our unique style of scripted entertainment to the next generation of digital media, and do that across thousands of different devices. Our top priority is to continue fostering an environment where the most talented and creative storytellers in the industry are working side by side with the world’s biggest creative partners. We’re already working on some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, and when you add our unannounced partnerships and upcoming original IP, it’s clear the most exciting time to be at Telltale is now, and there will continue to be more and more opportunity to innovate ahead of us.

Considering how well Telltale Games has done with working with several already established IPs and creating new storytelling experiences within those universes, many fans have wondered when the studio would create its own unique world with its extraordinary creative talent. It seems that Telltale Games is thinking the same thing with this announcement that an original IP is presently being worked on, but what it is and when we’ll see it is yet to be determined. With several games like Game of Thrones, Minecraft: Story Mode and Tales of the Borderlands all presently in development and some yet to be announced partnerships presumably for more games to be announced, you have to wonder if they are stretching themselves a bit thin.

There have been no announcements as to platforms or any time frame for a release of this original IP at this time.
