Project Aces is finally heading towards the home stretch of development with the Free to Play PS3 exclusive Ace Combat: Infinity, but they're already looking at the future, as Producer Kazutoki Kono told Famitsu in an interview.

Kono-san explained that a next generation title is being considered, but the future of the Ace Combat series will be decided by whether Infinity will be well received or not, as Projct Aces is interested in determining if the Ace Combat brand still has value to gamers in order to continue with it.

Personally, as a long-time fan of the Ace Combat series, I definitely hope to see a true Ace Combat game released on next generation consoles and possibly PC. Though, I'm not too sure a free to play online game can be considered a good gauge of the value of a brand that has always been praised for its single player and story content.

That said, we'll have to see where this will lead. Hopefully, it'll bring us back to the fictional world of Strangereal.
