NHL 14 Cover Vote Comes Down to Martin Brodeur and Sergei Bobrovsky

For the first time in 16 years, a goaltender will grace the cover of the next iteration in EA Sports’ NHL video game franchise, NHL 14. The last goalie to do so was former New York Ranger, John Vanbiesbrouck, then a member of the Florida Panthers.

Martin Brodeur has been the goalie for the New Jersey Devils over the course of his entire career and in 2009 became the all-time winningest goaltender in the history of the NHL. Brodeur has also amassed a sizable collection of league records including most regular season wins, games played, and shutouts; in addition to his three Stanley Cup championships.

Sergei Bobrovsky is currently signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, though he was previously signed with the Philadelphia Flyers for two years and he played in the Russian KHL prior to that. While he does not have any of the accolades that Brodeur has (Brodeur signed with the NHL a mere three years after Bobrovsky was born), Bobrovsky has established a reputation for himself in his short time in the NHL.

The NHL 14 cover vote finals is running from now until June 2nd. Brodeur is the expected winner, as “#NHL14Brodeur” is currently trending on Twitter. The game is currently being developed by EA Canada and will be published by EA Sports for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 10th, 2013.
