As one of the all-time classics for PC gamers, the beloved System Shock is getting the remake treatment in a new version of the game coming from developer Night Dive Studios, with the updated title now officially confirmed to arrive on PS4 in the early part of 2018.
In an update on the PlayStation Blog, Night Dive Studios announced that its upcoming remake of System Shock will be arriving on PS4 (following its previous announcement for Xbox One and PC) in Q1 2018. The game’s project director, Jason Fader, explained in a statement on the PlayStation Blog:
“Some of you might have heard about our Kickstarter that we started a few weeks ago. It’s still early in the project, but there was such a huge demand for a PS4 version that we immediately did what we could to make that happen. Today, I am incredibly proud to announce that System Shock will be coming to PS4 around Q1 2018. We’re excited to be working with Sony on this and can’t wait to see what all of you think of the game!”
Announced earlier this year, the team at Night Dive Studios started a Kickstarter campaign for the remake of System Shock and reached their funding goal of $900,000, with the title sitting at $1,100,015 (as of this writing) with one week left for the campaign.
System Shock‘s remake will release for PC and Xbox One in late 2017, followed by its release for PS4 in early 2018 – in the meantime, you can check out pre-alpha gameplay from the title below:
