Ninja Theory Hiring for Next-Generation Console Game Made With Unreal Engine

on July 23, 2014 6:27 PM

A while ago a tech demo made with Unreal Engine 4 by Ninja Theory was leaked, but we still don’t know if it’s an actual glimpse on a game or simply a result of technical experimentation. Today we learn that at the very least the popular developer plans to apply what it learned with it, thanks to two new career opportunity ads.

The first, seeking an Anvironment Artist, explicitly mentions “Knowledge of next-gen practices” between its requirements. The second, looking for a Lead Character Artist is even more specific.

Strong experience of high resolution Next Gen character modelling and associated pipeline (including normal mapping, budgeting, LOD derivation).

It also requires “Experience with UDK” (Unreal Development Kit, the main development tool for Unreal Engine) and “Extensive knowledge of major console systems.”

Interestingly, it marks “strong experience of low polygon modelling.” as an essential skill, which probably means that the new game is going to put a very strong emphasis on performance. That’s not too surprising considering the nature of most Ninja Theory games, in which speed is extremely important.

It’s been quitea  while since the release of DmC, and it’s about time to hear something more about Ninja Theory’s upcoming projects. Could Gamescom be the right occasion?
