At the recent Nintendo 3DS event in New York City, I'm pleasantly surprised to say that what got me most excited were the movie trailers they had at hand. Out of all the games and apps I messed with on the device, movie trailers somehow impressed me the most. We all knew the games were going to be great, and the 3D effects were legit. However, the 3D effects and picture quality the system is capable of really caught me off guard. I was able to watch a 2-3 minute trailer for Yogi Bear in 3D, and I thought to myself 'I could totally see myself watching full movies on the 3DS.' It is exactly what you would see in a 3D movie, but in the palm of your hands.

So, what if full-length 3D movies arrive on the 3DS? What has me worried is pricing. From what I saw, they could get away with selling a movie for the system for $25-30 easily. That's a lot of money. But I have to admit, they can do it because this has fantastic potential for mass market appeal. Why shell out over $3,000 for a 3D television, glasses, and movies when you can get a great taste of the experience on the Nintendo 3DS? I look forward to see what they do with this. And also imagine this... Netflix streaming. All the potential is there, folks.
