People are always asking for movie adaptations of their favorite video games, and Nintendo has several critically acclaimed and fan-favorite franchises, which have great potential to succeed as movies, like The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros.

Now well-known game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has said that they are opening the door to movie adaptations of certain games or even to making a brand new game accompanied with its own movie.

"We’ve had, over the years, a number of people who have come to us and said 'Why don’t we make a movie together—or we make a movie and you make a game and we’ll release them at the same time?'" Miyamoto said. "I’ve always felt video games, being an interactive medium, and movies, being a passive medium, mean the two are quite different."

He also acknowledged the fact that Nintendo is starting to realize that games can fit well into the movie scene, and that there is potential to make some movies in the future.

“As we look more broadly at what is Nintendo’s role as an entertainment company, we’re starting to think more and more about how movies can fit in with that—and we’ll potentially be looking at things like movies in the future.”

Nintendo has licensed a couple of movies in the past based on Super Mario Bros., so if they decide to enter the movie scene again, they already have some experience.
