Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata appeared today during the latest Nintendo Direct after a period in the hospital due to a major surgery, and many noticed that he lost a lot of weight. Via the official Japanese Twitter account he sent an update on his health, thanking the fans for their support.

The message translates as follows:

[Iwata] I’ve seen many concerned comments saying that I have lost weight. It is indeed true that I have lost weight after a major surgery. After resting about two months and a half my weight is stable and my conditions are favorable.

I’m truly grateful for your support, and to the doctors and to the staff of the hospital.

Thankfully it looks like Iwata-san is recovering, and he definitely came back with a vengeance. Majora’s Mask for 3DS and the new footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X definitely brightened the evening of many.
