Luigi Mario, the forever alone brother of the limelight stealing Mario Mario, is finally becoming the center of attention. This year Nintendo is dubbing “the Year of Luigi.” What this means, is that we’ll be seeing 4 titles that feature the taller, arguably more attractive, green loving brother. The following titles were shown during the presentation and give players an idea of what to expect in the coming year.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – This game will kick off “the year of Luigi” and it features a brand new mansion for Luigi to explore. It also features a completely new way to take down enemy ghosts using a gameplay mechanic that involves shocking the ghost and then reeling it in like a fish. LM:DM also features 4 player co-op, which will be playable either through ad-hoc, LAN, and even online. The co-op mode has players making their way up a “scare-scraper” where they progress by clearing on level after another until they reach the top. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will be available on March 24th.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team – A new trippy 3DS title that features the Mario Brothers duo has the pair making their way through the game with Mario handling the platforming on the top screen, and Luigi handling the sleeping — err dreaming, on the bottom. This one can be expected by the summer.

Mario Golf: World Tour – This one is fairly self explanatory. Mario Golf will mark the first time Mario AND Luigi play golf on the 3DS. The game features courses inspired by games from the Mario (AND Luigi) universe as well as some from real life. No word on an exact release but the title can be expected this summer.

Super Luigi U – Later this year, Nintendo will be releasing an expansion for Super Mario Bros. U that puts Luigi at the forefront. This update will revamp all of the levels in the existing game, drop “Bros.” from the title, and place Luigi as the main character. Details are still scarce at the moment, but Nintendo said that this title can be expected to release this year through an e-Shop update.
