For those of you Wii U owners looking to kill some time before the incoming release of Wii U titles ready to hit this fall, like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, or Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, you may want to take a look at Nintendo's new offer on some of its Wii classics.

Nintendo officially announced today in a press release that it will be reducing the prices on three of its prime Wii titles for those looking to replay an old classic or go through some of the Nintendo's biggest-selling titles for the first time: New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Wii Sports Resort will all be offered at $29.99 starting today at retailers. The price drops on these titles follow the one-two punch of Nintendo lowering the price of the Wii U Deluxe Edition from $349.99 to $299.99, and also offering a discounted Wii U Deluxe Edition bundle packaged with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

Nintendo stated in the press release that the price drops on the three titles are meant to provide quality experiences to Wii and Wii U owners through the year by providing three of their best-selling titles:

"The new price represents one of the many steps Nintendo is taking to provide shoppers with the best value and variety across all its systems through the end of 2013. The games can also be played on the Wii U home console, which can play the entire library of Wii games.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is tied with Super Mario Galaxy as one of the best-reviewed games of all time, with a Metacritic score of 97. To date the game has sold more than 2.7 million in the United States alone. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has sold more than 9.4 million in the U.S. and Wii Sports Resort, the follow-up to the game that introduced motion controls to the world of gaming, has U.S. sales of nearly 7 million."

Usually, Nintendo titles take quite some time before they are sold at a discount or lower price, so take up the opportunity now to play a few genuine Nintendo gems (especially Super Mario Galaxy 2) before getting to spend some quality time with Link or Donkey Kong this holiday season.
