Yesterday, PayPal announced a new partnership with Japanese video game company Nintendo that now allows Nintendo hardware owners to purchase digital games from the eShop by using their PayPal account.

On top of that, the company also confirmed that Switch owners will now have the option to use PayPal as a payment option on Nintendo’s web store, which means you can upload up your digital wallet on the site or you can use it to purchase software directly from the site using your PayPal account. Currently, this new payment option is available in various regions including the US, Japan, Canada, as well as an abundance of European countries.

While this is great news for Nintendo console owners, this new payment option is far from innovative, as other consoles on the market have possessed the payment option for quite some time. Nonetheless, it is still an excellent option for those who are skeptical about putting their credit/debit card information on the internet.

It is also worth noting that because the Nintendo Switch is a home/portable console hybrid, the ability to use PayPal as a payment option makes purchasing games on the go faster than ever.

Speaking of Nintendo, the publisher announced this morning that a demo for its upcoming fighting game, Pokken Tournament DX will be available later today.
