Nintendo Queues Up Netflix On The 3DS

All of you 3DS owners out there, I am no longer laughing. As a matter of fact I am now officially jealous of you all. Today Nintendo of America has announced that the video delivery service has now gone live on their 3D handheld. It’s the first time the service lands on one of Ninty’s mobile devices and comes at a perfect time for Netflix, who has been on the receiving end of some scrutiny over their new raised rates. Fortunately the raised rates does not affect the prices of streaming services ($7.99 per month). The free Netflix app can be found in the same place as everything else you download and that’s in the eShop. There is a system update that is needed to download the app, so make sure to get that out of the way first.

Here’s a few words from Reggie Fils-Aime on the new functionality.

“The new Netflix application looks great, plays great and is a fantastic consumer experience…It gives Nintendo 3DS owners access to an amazing wealth of movies and TV shows, which they can watch conveniently from thousands of free Wi-Fi access points across the country. Nintendo 3DS truly offers something for everyone.”

Arrested Development + Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time = Best. Summer. Ever.
