Likely sore from the financial failure of the 3DS, Nintendo has repackaged the Wii in what they are calling for Europeans the 'Wii Family edition.' This 'new' version of the Wii will be packaged with Wii Sports, Wii Party and a Wii Remote Plus with a nunchuck attachment. However, the backwards compatibility for Gamecube will be removed, as most family gamers likely never owned or wished to own one.
Whether this dumbed down Wii is offered at a reduced price remains to be deteremined and it is still unknown whether this bundle will make it to the US of A.
