Nintendo Will Continue Nintendo Direct Broadcasts Following Satoru Iwata’s Passing; No Details on Host or Topics Yet

For the last several years, Nintendo has gradually shifted away from the usual industry trends of elaborate press conferences and events in favor of the company’s Nintendo Direct broadcasts, where the company produced videos highlighting new releases and exciting developments for the company, and though former company president Satoru Iwata tragically passed away this summer, Nintendo will continue its Direct broadcasts in the future.

Speaking to IGN on the heels of this week’s Tokyo Game Show 2015, Nintendo confirmed that “Nintendo Directs will continue” in the future, though the company clarified that “we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered.”

No details specifically mentioned before that Nintendo would be ceasing the Nintendo Direct broadcasts, though given the circumstances surrounding Iwata’s passing and the recent induction of new company president Tatsumi Kimishima, their future was unclear. However, Nintendo will continue to release new Directs in the future for more on the company’s latest titles.
