Nintendo’s First Mobile Game Miitomo Launches in March; Registration Open in Two Weeks

on February 2, 2016 10:27 PM

After My Nintendo was outlined in tonight’s Nintendo Shareholder Meeting, the topic turned to Nintendo’s first mobile game with DeNA, Miitomo. According to a set of investor slides outlining the conference (seen below, with rough Google Translation) Miitomo is looking to launch in mid-March for Japan, then later in March worldwide on iOS and Android. Pre-registration for Miitomo will launch on February 17, 2016 in sixteen different countries and eight languages.

In addition to the release information, the slides hold some integral information regarding Miitomo’s features. For instance, it seems there will be social networking integration that will allow users to share “Mii Photos” through whatever platforms the end product contains. A Nintendo Account will be necessary to pre-register — it is unclear whether this refers to the forthcoming My Nintendo, Nintendo Accounts, or the current Nintendo Network ID. Lastly, it seems like Nintendo aims to make Free to Start strategies for upcoming mobile games.
