Nintendo’s Wii U Makes a Guest Appearance in “The Price is Right,” No Mention of the Actual System’s Name

on March 16, 2015 7:13 PM

For those who tuned into today’s episode of The Price is Right, you would have been treated to quite the surprise: the Nintendo Wii U was featured in one of the games.

The game in question was called “Take Two,” and it required the contestant to choose which two out of four items added up to a total amount shown at the top of the display.

While the system, Gamepad and a nice selection of titles were presented clearly — including Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Just Dance 2015, Sonic: Lost World and New Super Luigi U — neither the game host (Drew Carey), the announcer nor the contestant actually stated the console’s name outright. Instead it was referred to as the “Nintendo Entertainment System” and “the gaming/game system.”

It’s unfortunate that the Wii U was showcased so prominently on a popular game show without its name ever being mentioned in that brief window. Hopefully interested parents and grandparents will ask for the console’s name when inquiring for a purchase.
