Nippon Ichi Unveils PS3 Exclusive Side Scrolling JRPG Battle Princess of Arcadias with Info and Screnshots Aplenty

It’s been a while since we  last heard about Battle Princess of Arcadias (formerly codenamed Project: Arcadia) by Nippon Ichi, and today the Japanese software house fully unveiled  the game, that will be a side scrolling action JRPG and will be released (in Japan) exclusively for PS3 on September the 26th.

The game puts the player in the cutesy boots of the sword-wielding princess Plum (and apparently other princesses as well) as she hacks and slashes across 2D side scrolling environments. There will be RPG-like character progression and abdundant loot, and the gameplay is described as “easy to play for beginners”.

The game is set in a continent surrounded by the sea, where a large variety of monsters rampage the land, and the various kingdoms are constantly struggling against that threat. Not only soldiers are sent to fight the monsters, but also the princesses of each kingdom are sent to the battlefield to lead the war and protect their people.

Arcadias (18)

The princesses are beloved and respected by the population of their kingdoms, that have to fight for their life day after day. It’s said that just speaking the name of one of the princesses will make everyone smile.

The main heroine is Plum (nicknamed Putchan), princess of the Schuvert kingdom. She’s 158 cm tall and she’s a bit ditzy and excessively innocent. She loves to fight and she’s proud of her job as a “battle princess”.   She’ll be voiced by Saori Hayami (adorable voice of Leia in Tales of Xillia and Ayase Aragaki in the anime series Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai). Her weapon of choice is the sword and she’s a close combat specialist. She’s also very fast and agile. Her fighting style is a little tomboyish, so she doesn’t refrain from kicking the enemy when necessary.

The continent that serves as a setting for the game is divided in three different kindoms named Armatura, Vueros and Shuvert. The kingdoms are further subdivided in various regions that have different geographical themes, like Volcano, Forest or Snowy Mountain. Each of those regions represents a stage where the princesses can join the battle against the monsters.

The main task of the princesses is to subjugate the monsters that roam the land. To do that they have to travel each area and fight several kinds of enemies, including some huge bosses.

To help in their fight they will have access to more than 900 different weapons, each with its own attributes, looks and statistics. Fighting with one of the weapons for a long time will release its abilities, letting it evolve and grow with its user.
