Today, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios released a new overview-like Injustice 2 trailer that reveals and introduces the previously leaked character: Joker.

While there was never any doubt that the Joker would appear in the game -- especially after the game's achievement list went live revealing his presence -- today is the first time the villain has ever been confirmed.

For those that don’t know: Joker is DC Comics' most iconic villain (and probably the most iconic villain across both DC and Marvel) who first appeared in the debut issue of the comic book Batman back on April 25, 1940. He is Batman's archenemy.

As you may know, the Joker possesses no superhuman abilities, but instead uses his expertise in chemical engineering to develop poisonous or lethal concoctions. In general, he is also just wildly clever and insane. A good combination for a villain.

NetherRealm has yet to provide an official overview of the character on the game's site.

Injustice 2 is set to release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017. Below, you can check out the new trailer and Joker:
