Studio Wildcard has amended the conditions for adding the sheep, dubbed Ovis Aries, to their game ARK: Survival Evolved.

Previously we reported the developer's plan to add the sheep if players voted the game into the top spot in the Steam Awards in the “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” category.

When this plan elicited bitter responses from fans (some felt the studio was "blackmailing" fans for votes), the developer amended it and has reintroduced the Ovis as an upcoming bonus that will be added to the game in the next major update regardless of whether or not the game wins the related Steam Award:

In our excitement, Ovis Aries was designed as a celebration of the nomination. We want to make it clear that regardless of whether ARK wins a Steam Award or not, Ovis will be making its debut in the next major ARK version update!
