No Modern Day Assassin’s Creed Planned

Looking forward to playing Assassin’s Creed in modern day New York? Well, not happening. According to Game Informer, Assassian’s Creed IV: Black Flag‘s lead writer, Darby McDevittt, explained that Ubisoft has no intentions of bring the series to the modern world anytime soon during a panel at Comic Con.

We love doing our homework, visiting these locations, and researching real historical details, which we can incorporate into the game. We love making game’s based on real historical places, and I don’t think any era can be ruled out, but whichever era we choose to do next we will bring it to life in a realistic way. So, I wouldn’t expect us to do a modern day Assassin’s Creed anytime soon.

Though this may disappoint some, I am thrilled to hear this news. For me, the series’ main attraction has always been about losing myself in another time.

For those heartbroken about this news, I hope you like Japanese history because McDevitt did speak about the possibility of an installment of Assassin’s Creed exploring Ancient Japan. Ninjas and assassins? Now that’s a game!
