No Open Free Roam in The Last Guardian

The newest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine netted an exclusive interview with Team ICO game designer/director, Fumito Ueda, about The Last Guardian. The interview has the standard based Q and A’s but delivered some rather sad news. The Last Guardian will not feature open free roam the likes of Shadow of the Colossus. All the levels/stages will take place in the castle we’ve seen in all the recent trailers. Here’s hoping that we will be able to roam the halls of this structure instead of being lead on a linear experience. I have to say I’m a little disappointed about this level design decision as Shadow of the Colossus‘ atmosphere and vastness were a staple in the gaming industry. Will this impact anyone’s decision on buying Team ICO’s latest title whenever it comes out?

Pretty much your above average gamer who plays games profusely and appreciates them even more. Been gaming since the NES but is in love with anything PlayStation. No I am not a typical fanboy...I appreciate each system for their strengths and recognize their weaknesses. I just love the PS brand. (Think along the lines as someone who likes to read but loves one author in particular). Ever since my time as #2 in the world at Resistance 2, I have taken video games much more seriously. Don't get me wrong, I am a laid back, fun guy to game with...but I always play to win.
