Nobunaga’s Ambition Producer Talks Lovely Sengoku Strategy, PS4 and Bringing Japanese Games to the West

The Nobunaga’s Ambition series has always been deeply rooted in its Japanese origins, and its depth and complexity determined its position as a series that I would have never imagined coming west in its modern incarnations.

Yet, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence has been released in the west, part of an absolutely admirable effort by Koei Tecmo to bring its Japanese games to this side of the ocean.

I had a chance to chat with legendary Producer Kenichi Ogasawara about the game, PS4 development, and this pleasing new trend of localizing as many games as possible.

Interestingly, Ogasawara-san realistically mentions that Koei Tecmo doesn’t expect the series to immediately become massive in the west, so this release is part of a long-term strategy, and we can expect more coming in the future.

You can check out all the information he gave me in the video below (apologies for the backround noise, but the booth was basically in the middle of the most chaotic area of the event).
