Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura recently sat down for an interview with Famitsu, where he talked about the upcoming Japanese HD remake Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix. Among other things, Nomura-san was asked if there would be an HD remake of Kingdom Hearts II released at some point down the line. Nomura's response was practically a confirmation: "It would be unusual if there wasn't".

Nomura-san also confirmed a few more details about 1.5HDR. The game will reuse 3D models from the recently released Kingdom Hearts 3D. It will contain several recreated cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days in lieu of doing a full HD remake of it. Finally, he also says that 1.5 HDR will control more similarly to Kingdom Hearts II, which is great because that game is amazing.

Knowing that Kingdom Hearts II HD may be on the way kind of makes me less excited about Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, which has yet to be confirmed for a North American release. It really doesn't matter though, because HD Kingdom Hearts is something I've been waiting for for far too long and I'd be all over any of these games if they came stateside.
