Today, Polish developer Bloober Team -- who you may recognize from 2015's cult-hit Layers of Fear -- and publisher Aspyr Media released a new Observer video that goes behind the scenes with the voice actor of the game's protagonist: Rutger Hauer.
For those of you who don't know who Rutger Hauer is by name (shame on you): you may recognize the legendary Dutch actor from his role as Roy Batty in Bladerunner, as well as from his roles in films such as Flesh+Blood, Sin City, Batman Begins, The Hitcher, Blind Fury, and more.
The video more or less goes into Hauer's role in the game and his experience making it. Notably, this is Hauer's first video game that he has worked on that has released. The actor in the video points out that he had previously worked on two other games (which he notes were nowhere near as good), but they never came to fruition.
Observer is a cyberpunk horror game set in a 2084 Eastern European dystopian future where oppressive corporations are the ruling power. In the game you take on the role of Dan Lazaraski, a detective for a corporate-funded police unit called Observers, who have special augmentations that allow them to see things other can't and hack into people's minds.
The game picks up after you receive a cryptic message from your estranged son, which ultimately brings you to the seedy underbelly of the city where psychedelic cyberpunk madness and horror awaits you.
Notably, the game includes a dialogue system that allows you to make choices throughout the story, aka there is a branching narrative that leads to one of multiple endings.
Observer, which released earlier this week, is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for $29.99 USD. Below, you can check out the aforementioned video:
