One in Five Direct2Drive Orders are Free

Well, here’s a promotion for the compulsive gambler in you. From now until 11:59 pm PST on December 31, 2010, every purchase made on the Direct2Drive store has a one in five chance of being completely free, no matter how big the order is. This bonkers promotional deal is only have of D2D’s attempt to unseat Steam as your digital retailer of the season; they’ve also gone and announced a Lowest Price Match Guarantee program, stating that if you can find a game for cheaper than the D2D price, they’ll give you back the difference in store credit. That could mean some pretty cheap (and 20% of the time, free) games once the annual Steam holiday sale rolls around. And D2D’s catalog is nothing to sneeze at, either. They’ve already got more than 2,500 games, including some of this year’s biggest titles, for both PC and Mac.
