Valve VR Lead Engineer Atman Binstock has today moved over to Oculus Rift, where he'll be taking the role of Head Architect, Oculus announced today.

Binstock was one of the minds behind the VR prototype demoed at Steam Dev Days, which was lauded for its realism and removal of the motion sickness problem.

Binstock states that he's not leaving Valve out of any sort of dispute, but rather because he wants to help improve the consumer Oculus Rift and bring it to the world.

...If I wanted a revolution, and I thought I was capable of contributing, I should be actively pushing it forward.

Two years later, we’ve solved some of the basic problems, proven great VR is not only possible but truly magical, and now I want to bring it to the world. I’m incredibly excited and humbled by the opportunity — We’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible, and I can’t wait to discover what’s next.
