Orbit Available to PlayStation Plus Members in Europe, Expect it Stateside Soon

I’m a sucker for scrolling shooters like Galaga and Lifeforce. Orbit may not adhere strictly to the “shooter” formula, but it looks fun as all hell.

Developed by Laughing Jackal, Orbit just released on the PlayStation Network in Europe and is exclusively available to Plus members there until Nov. 23. The game hits the states Dec. 6 (Just in time for Pearl Harbor Day!)

Take a gander at the trailer after the jump for an idea of what the gameplay is like. If you were a fan of the barrel rocket stages in Donkey Kong Country Returns, this might be right up your alley.

Orbit stars Doc, the head of the Institute of Space Research Institute’s last astronaut as he collects en route to different planets in order to keep the space program alive. And, yes, the word “institute” shows up twice in the organization’s title. Offbeat, huh?

The game looks fun enough, and as a PlayStation Minis title, it’ll probably be worth the asking price. Judge me however you will, but I’m totally willing to pay $5 or less for a few quality hours of quick, addictive gameplay. Once again: trailer’s after the jump.
