Even though Elite: Dangerous isn’t set to release until 2014, Frontier Development is giving us a sneak peek of the game by releasing five new images. The highly anticipated sequel, which raised almost $2.4 million on KickStarter in over 60 days at the end of 2012 will take place on the Milky Way that hosts more than 100 billion stars.

While it has taken 20 years for a new sequel to the beloved Elite to come along, it looks like it might be worth the wait and Elite: Dangerous Senior Producer Michael Brookes promised something else "pretty cool" is also in the works but isn't quite ready yet.

The images, which can be viewed in the gallery below, shows some of the concepts for spacecraft and cockpit views in the galactic trading game.

The game is currently expected to come out in March 2014 for PC.
