Outlast 2 Gets Delayed from Late 2016 to Early 2017; Studio Says It “Will Scare the Crap Out of You”

The original Outlast quickly became one of this generation’s most beloved horror games with its terrifying visuals and haunting asylum, though the game’s upcoming sequel, Outlast 2, will need a bit more time to follow-up the original’s scares with the game having been delayed to early next year.

Developer Red Barrels Studio announced on the company’s Facebook page that the horror sequel Outlast 2 has been delayed from its originally intended release in Fall 2016 to Q1 2017.

Specifically, the studio explained that “we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve,” while adding that “we are so fully committed to the world we’ve built and to our awesome community that we could not, in good conscience, release a game who’s limits haven’t been tested to the extreme.”

While the game’s delay is setting it back from release later this year, Red Barrels ended its post on a good note by saying “we promise Outlast 2 will scare the crap out of you,” and will hopefully make the wait even more worth it.

Outlast 2 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2017.
